Internship Opportunities

Restoration and Land Management Internship

The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust is seeking a seasonal part-time Intern to aid in our restoration efforts, land management, research, and education work. Download the full posting of this internship.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in field applications of ecological restoration and land management
  • Familiarity with land care equipment (mowers, trimmers, pruners, loppers, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Pursuing a degree in natural sciences, horticulture, or trades is desired
  • Able to identify native and non-native plants
  • Must be team-oriented, positive, polite and friendly to all

Duties include all or some of the following:

  • General landscaping (e.g. mowing, string trimming, split rail fence maintenance)
  • Trail corridor clearing, trimming and maintenance of drainage features
  • Invasive plant management (e.g. mechanical/manual cutting, vine clearing, herbicide applications)
  • Planting and maintenance of reforestation sites, meadows, riparian areas
  • Assist research staff in development of resource management plans for preserve parcels
  • Occasional administrative and clerical duties to support full-time staff
  • Assist with educational, interpretive, and volunteer programs

Compensation:

  •  $16/hour for approximately 24 hours per week, typically 7:30am-3:30pm
  •  Advancement potential
