Event Details
Migration is a fundamental mechanism used by many species of birds to survive seasonal changes in weather and availability of food. It remains one of the most mysterious phenomena in ornithology, one which we are only now beginning to understand. Join Dr. Nilesh Shah for a discussion that will provide an overview of migration with a focus on patterns of migration, orientation and navigation, variables affecting migration, and techniques used to study the phenomenon. Threats to birds during migration and conservation efforts underway to minimize the threats will bring the discussion to a close. This program will be held in our Visitor’s Center. Free, but pre-registration is required.
