Eco-Mindfulness and Nature’s Best Hope (Book Discussion) – Monthly 3-Part Series
Saturdays December 20th, January 24th, February 21st, 10:15 am – 12:00 pm
Come join us this Winter as we delve into Eco-Mindfulness and take a fresh look at Douglas W. Tallamy’s insightful book Nature’s Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation that Starts in Your Yard. Tallamy describes how we can each do our own part in restoring the environment by planting native species in our own yards, creating corridors for pollinators and other species. Each session will include a short guided sitting meditation, a Mindful slow walk in the woods (weather permitting), and a discussion of one section of the book (Dec 20th – Chapters 1-4; Jan 24th – Chapters 5-6; February 21st – Chapters 7-11). This series will focus on actionable steps we can each take. Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions and experiences to share. The sessions will be facilitated by naturalist Erica Blatt, who has her PhD in Environmental Education and is certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Classes will meet in the BLBB Classroom at the back of the Office building. This program is limited to 15 participants. No previous experience necessary. Cost for the 3-Part Series is $75 for Members. $90 for Non-members. Registration for all three sessions preferred, but individual session sign-up is available.
