October 21^st – Beech Leaf Disease, Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

In Summer 2024, beech leaf disease (BLD) was discovered in American Beech trees on the northern edge of the Pennypack Preserve. Beginning in 2025 Pennypack Trust was presented with the opportunity to host a research team from Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories to study different methods (silvicultural thinning and chemical injections) of slowing the progress of beech leaf disease and preserve our most American beech-dominated forest tract. Having performed all the experimental treatments, researchers will now begin monitoring the effects on the beech trees over the next 5 years.
