Eco-Mindfulness and Forest Wisdom – Monthly 3-Part Series

Saturdays June 14th, July 19th, and August 16th, 10:00 am – 11:45 am

Come join us this Summer as we immerse ourselves in nature and practice mindfulness together. These classes will weave together nature-inspired guided sitting meditation, sensory activities exploring the forests and meadows at PERT, and poetry/readings from past and present authors who share their wisdom of the forest, as they encourage us to find our own wisdom and healing in the forest around us. There will be ample time for discussion and reflection.

Please bring a chair or mat (for the outdoors) that is comfortable for you. We will meet indoors if there is inclement weather. This program is limited to 12 participants. No previous experience necessary. Cost is $75 for Members. $90 for Non-members. Registration for all three sessions preferred, but individual session sign-up is available.

Instructor

Erica Blatt has a PhD in Environmental Education and has been a professor of Science and Environmental Education at Rowan University and the College of Staten Island, CUNY. She has also taught high school Biology and Environmental Science in a number of diverse settings, and has been an outdoor educator at the Pocono Environmental Education Center, worked for Wilderness Ventures leading trips in the Pacific Northwest of the US, and the Appalachian Mountain Club in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She has completed her certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and spent several years using mindfulness meditation and Nature to guide her own process of healing from trauma and anxiety.
