In 2010, the Trust added thirty acres of meadow in Bryn Athyn to its patchwork of protected landscape. Known as Cathedral Meadows, the area contains a shallow pond, and a section of Cairn Run, an important stream that flows into the Pennypack Creek. Over the past year, staff has begun tackling the invaded tree lines, timing mowing to alter plant composition, and planting native trees alongside Cairn Run for shade and streambank support. Accompany Pennypack Trust Horticulturalist, Sam Makler, and Research and Restoration Coordinator, Maria Paula Mugnani to learn about our restoration progress in this area, which is only accessible via guided tours. This walking tour takes about two and a half hours and consists of rough trails and hills. Limited to 20 participants. Pennypack Trust Members Only. Free, but pre-registration is required.
