Event Details

February 17th -Thursday, 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM- Children and Nature *Virtual on Zoom*

There are extraordinary documentaries widely available on the internet that feature fabulous videography of the wonders of nature. Why not immerse children in the virtual world of tablets and TVs so they can discover the wonders of nature? If the content is “educational” does the medium matter? Angela Rose, Head of the Education Department at Bryn Athyn College, will share some thoughts on the importance of firsthand, sensory experience in nature for young children. We’ll look at some research on playing in green spaces and consider the developmental needs of childhood in order to more fully appreciate the benefits of nourishing the senses in the woods, garden, neighborhood park, and backyard. Free. Online registration required by February 16th to receive the Zoom link.
