Event Details

Watching Chimney Swifts come in to roost is quite the spectacle! They spend a lot of time swirling around in the air before dropping into their roost site. And even though hundreds or even thousands of chimney swifts drop into a single chimney to roost at dusk during fall migration, that chimney will host only one chimney swift nest during breeding season.

Bring a chair and join us in the parking lot of the Junge Ice Rink & Pavilion (3002 Cairnwood Dr, Bryn Athyn, PA  19009) to watch swifts descend into a nearby chimney for the night, a location where they have roosted in large numbers in the past. This is a joint event with Wyncote Audubon Society.  NOTE: Because swifts do change their roosting spot, it is not guaranteed to see them the night we are watching.  Leaders: Wendy Clymer of Wyncote Audubon and Kevin Roth of Pennypack Trust.

This program is free; pre-registration is appreciated but not required.
