Have you ever wanted to learn more about birding, but didn’t know where to start? This is the program for you! We will cover all the basics such as bird identification, binocular use, field guides, phone apps, citizen science, and more! This 6-session course will be a mix of lecture, bird walks, and field trips. Pre-registration required by Thursday, November 14. Members free; non-members $10.
Session 1-
Tuesday November 19, 7 – 9 p.m.
Classroom Session at Pennypack Trust
Birding basics, materials, phone apps, binoculars, resources
Session 2-
Saturday November 23, 8 – 10:30 a.m.
Field Session at Pennypack Trust
Practice identifying basic birds from Session 1 using phone apps and binoculars
Session 3-
Tuesday December 17, 7 – 9 p.m.
Classroom Session at Pennypack Trust
Learn how to be a citizen scientist for birds (feeder watch, Christmas Bird Count, climate watch, etc.)
Session 4-
Saturday December 21, 8 – 10:30 a.m.
Field Session at Pennypack Trust
Test your skills and participate in the annual Christmas Bird Count.
Session 5-
Tuesday January 7, 7 – 9 p.m.

Learn about winter waterfowl in preparation for our field trip to the Barnegat Lighthouse.
Session 6-
Saturday January 18, All Day
Join Wyncote Audubon Society on a field trip to search for winter waterfowl at the Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island
